So I’m not sure if you all had noticed my countdown on the side of my blog, but it was counting day to my first ever 5k which happened to be apart of Pittsburgh’s Great Race.
What is #ActiveNationDay?
Active Nation Day is a movement created in 2012 by Lorna Jane to help women live an authentic and active life. On 28 September 2014, we’ll be hosting events all over the world, where sporty sisters can learn and take part in a specially choreographed fitness routine. In just three years, the Active Nation Day sisterhood has collectively moved over eight million kilometres together – that’s 21 times to the moon! And with this year marking Active Nation Day’s global debut, that number is set to soar.
Lorna Jane also created an app and the directions are below on how to download them.
Although none of the #ActiveNationDay events were close to my hometown, I decided running in the Great Race was the perfect way to live an authentic and active life. I was kind of bummed that I hadn’t recieved my #MNBbracelet just yet but once I recieve it I will be sure to post it on my social media outlets.
So after finishing my first 5k it is safe to say that I’m addicted. I’ve caught the running bug and can’t wait for my next 5k which will take place on Thanksgiving Day.
Here are some photos from the race:
Disclaimer: That small woman is my mother who ran the 10K and was amazing lol!
