Greatist Challenge: Week #1 Recap

Hey Everyone!

I’m back with a quick Greatist Healthy Food Challenge Week #1 Recap.

First and foremost, let me just say that this no buy initially started out quite tough because I keep seeing all new products being reviewed and released and I was getting anxious.

HOWEVER… things have changed.

I’m in this for the long haul. I’m excited to see if I can last longer than a month.

But back to the matter at hand…this $60 budget challenge.

LORD… I totally underestimated this challenge.

I don’t have a problem with eating healthy but after the holidays, a girl is struggling.

Also, I DID NOT SET OUT WITH A PLAN.

You know my momma used to beat this in my head when I was younger.

Failing to plan is planning to fail.

As always, momma knows best.

So I FAILED.

Big time.

I did NOT meal prep as much as I wanted too.

I ate out 2x this week, although one was free99 but I still ate out.

I also misplaced my receipts.

*major side eye* I live with a 7 year old who thinks things in mommies special place are things to be thrown away or made in to dinosaurs with and then tossed.

One thing I do know is that I did stick closely to my budget and I only visited the grocery store once this week.

I DID make a list.

I also cheated and had 2 chocolate chip cookies at a staff meeting.

SUE ME.

Lol all jokes aside. I have a few key takeaways from this week.

REVIEW YOUR PANTRY – I’ve noticed I bought double of a few things that I already had in my pantry.

GROCERY SHOP WITH A LIST – I usually do this but I figure I share this tip.

MEAL PREP – I used to meal prep on Sunday’s and will be back at it this Sunday.

ACCOUNTABILITY PARTNER – My boyfriend has been keeping me accountable and I love it. Because lord knows I miss pizza.  Along with my incredibly fit mother who tells me “Girl eat that burger, just don’t eat the bun.” Also not to mention I’m living with a 7 year old who already has abs. (Stay tuned for a picture of my little fit man)

HAVE FUN – I think this is the most important tip. When I first started my fitness journey I used to get down on myself when I failed and ate “bad” food. However, this time around I simply DO NOT CARE. I know that as long as I’m working hard towards my overall goal then a few mishaps won’t hurt as long as I remain diligent.

So that’s it everyone! I’m claiming next week as a great week. I have my plan set out and already know that I will stick to my $60 budget.
